Meticulous Hand-Tufting Technique
A masterful work designed by Florence Bourel, is a vibrant tribute to the extravagance and profusion of traditional Rajasthani block print motifs. This hand-tufted red carpet in wool and vegetable silk embodies a fireworks display of colors, materials and woven effects. It is positioned at the intersection of tradition and modernity, bringing a note of vitality and warmth to any space.
The Baya rug stands out as a true marvel of textile art. Each element, each color gradation, each pattern is meticulously hand-tufted, forming a mosaic of textures and colors. Wool and plant-based silk ensure sumptuous softness and excellent durability, while red tones inject a dose of passion and vigor.
Baya transcends its function as a simple rug. It manifests itself as a stylistic statement, a praise of traditional Rajasthani art and proof of Toulemonde Bochart’s commitment to quality and innovation.
Opting for the Baya rug means embracing art, craftsmanship and high-level design. It’s about selecting a piece that tells a saga of inspiration, passion and dedication to the art of making superior quality rugs.
Matter 70% Wool 30% Vegetable Silk
Wool rugs impress with their comfort, resistance and ease of maintenance. The wools used for carpets are stiff and resistant to crushing. Handmade tufted or woven wool rugs, as well as knotted, provide excellent color retention. They combine visual comfort, acoustic comfort by absorbing noise in the velvet, and living comfort by playing a role as a hygrometric regulator. The wool’s scale fiber prevents dirt from becoming embedded and promotes cleaning. At a carpet cleaning specialist, it will be washed with a mild detergent and plenty of water. However, regular maintenance with a brushless vacuum cleaner and occasional stain removal with bed base soil will only allow this cleaning to be carried out every 3 to 4 years. Toulemonde Bochart rugs are not always single material. To reinforce the character of a pattern, to emphasize a line, it is possible to combine wool with viscose, for example. This play of materials then allows you to play with matte/glossy oppositions for more vibrant designs. Generally, viscose only appears as a flash of light, with little influence on the fragility of the carpet. It is the dominant wool which will make the carpet resistant and easy to maintain.
Hand tufted
The drawing is printed on a canvas, stretched over a frame. The threads are stitched into this canvas by a gun, either manual or electric, to form the velvet. This velvet is shaved, inspected. The backrest is glued with latex to maintain the velvet, then protected by canvas or mesh. It takes approximately 3 days to tuft a rug, then 3 days for latexing and drying and finally 4 to 5 days for all the finishing touches.
